Indian Theatre Company takes to the West End stage in major international theatre project.

Kalakadamba Art Centre, a leading Yakshagana company from Bangalore, is performing in the heart of London’s West End in September, as part of an international tour which also takes in Sweden and China! Re-Orientations, an exciting physical and visual performance, devised by the international company of performers, is showing at Soho Theatre for three weeks only from 7th to 25th. It features Yakshagana performer Radhakrishna Urala (who is also doing a more traditional performance at the Nehru Centre on September 3rd), and actress Spatica Ramanujam. The famous playwright and film director Mahesh Dattani is the dramaturg.

The play is set in the aftermath of the tsunami, and deals with the changes in modern India and its relationship to the UK - with lots of music, dance and multi-media! The Indian characters interact with Western visitors, and are forced to think differently about their country and themselves.

It is an event which members of the London Met Indian Students Society really shouldn’t miss!
